“For more than 30 years, I have trusted the vets at Park Grove Pet Hospital for their expert diagnostic abilities, their ability to communicate information in a simple, straightforward way, and finally, they have loved and genuinely cared about all the dogs I have owned over the years.”

Dr. Dan Cederstrom

Dan Cederstrom
  • Started at Park Grove: December 1992
  • Degrees: BS and DVM from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Internship from Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at Oklahoma State University
  • Pets: Elsie, black Lab; OB and Holly, cats; and Bob Johnson, beta fish
  • Like most about my job: What I like most about my job is the diversity of what we do on a daily basis, from welcoming new puppies and kittens to meeting the need of our senior patients. I like connecting with our clients on a professional and personal basis, and I believe that’s what separates us from other clinics: our sincere care for the well being of our patients and their owners.
  • Hobbies and interests: I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, hockey, and spending time outdoors.

"I take pride in the fact that I have hired a staff that is extraordinary. They are compassionate, smart, and innovative. They are always accepting and warm. Each one brings uniqueness to the team and, collectively, I believe we have one of the best practice teams in the city!" ~ Dr. Dan Cederstrom, Owner of Park Grove Pet Hospital

Dr. Julie Hansen

Julie Hansen
  • Started at Park Grove: February 2005
  • Degrees: BS in zoology from Iowa State University in 1997, DVM from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, Medicine & Surgery Internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists 2001—2002
  • Special interests: Oncology/cancer care, general surgery, exotic animal medicine, pain management, and dermatology
  • Pets: Binkley and Fuzzy Cat, cats; Oliver and Stevie, golden retrievers
  • Like most about my job I enjoy the personal connections I make with my patients and their owners. Our clients are wonderful, and it is great to get to know them and their pets like family! I also love learning new treatments and techniques to improve the care of my patients. Change is good.
  • Hobbies and interests: Photography, reading, traveling, spending time with my husband Jamey, and children Ella and Ben
  • Something interesting: My father was a career Naval officer, and I had the good fortune to live all over the United States (Florida, Texas, California, Virginia) and in Sicily, Italy. All that moving around gave me a great perspective on the world and inspired my love of travel.

Dr. John Sturtz

John Sturtz
  • Started at Park Grove: August 2006
  • Degrees: BS in mathematics and computer science from Carleton College in 1985; DVM from University of Minnesota in 2006
  • Pets: Nataliya (Tally for short), golden retriever; Orrefors and Baccarat (aka Ori and Rat), cats. Ori and Rat were adopted by us as kittens at about 8 weeks of age, after being born in the clinic to a Park Grove Pet Hospital impound cat.
  • Like most about my job: I have a very strong belief that a close bond with a companion animal greatly enriches a person’s life. The greatest satisfaction I get from being a veterinarian is helping people to maintain those bonds with their furry friends.
  • Hobbies and interests: Dog training, golf, singing, and musical theatre
  • Something interesting: Being a veterinarian is my third career. I was a computer programmer first, then a singer for about 5 years, then a programmer again, and then a veterinarian! My wife says I don’t get any more careers; I have to stick with this one!
