Less than 15% of all animal hospitals in the United States carry this distinction and meet the highest standards in professional pet care. Becoming an AAHA-accredited practice was a goal of our hospital for several years, and we completed this voluntary accreditation program in 2011.

Employment Opportunities

Receptionist

The purpose of this position is to serve as the first face our clients see when entering Park Grove Pet Hospital. Our receptionists perform a variety of duties, including record keeping, clerical and support for other staff. This position requires practical knowledge of hospital organization and services, basic rules or protocols governing visitors and animal patient treatment, data transcribing, word processing and a practical knowledge of standard procedures, veterinary records and terminology used in the hospital.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide friendly, professional and upbeat greetings to our clients coming into the clinic
  • Receive incoming calls, screen those that are handled by other health care members and take care of routine calls as well as take messages.
  • Follow established hospital policies and procedures in referring clients for immediate treatment of their pets when requests are accompanied by complaints of acute symptoms.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a Veterinary Clinic or related Customer Service position (preferred)
  • Availability to work days, evenings and weekends (required)
  • Ability to multi-task and be a team player
  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system
  • Experience with Cornerstone is a plus!

The ideal candidate for this clinic will have experience working in a fast-paced veterinary clinic and ready to start right away! The ideal candidate must be flexible although we try to set shifts for consistency. Full time candidates are eligible for benefits including health & dental benefits, CE budget, employee discounts, and uniform allowance.

Assistant

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated, friendly and professional full-time veterinary assistant to join our 5 Doctor, AAHA accredited practice in Cottage Grove!

The purpose of this position is to assist our veterinarians and other staff with patient care and treatment, educate clients and assist with surgical procedures when needed. This position requires practical knowledge of hospital organization and services, basic rules or protocols governing animal patient treatment, data transcribing, word processing and a practical knowledge of standard procedures, veterinary records and terminology used in the hospital.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist our doctors and other staff with a variety of duties (appointments, lab-work, surgery, reception, etc)
  • Client education
  • Restrain animals confidently
  • Answering phones (making phone calls)
  • Helping the clinic to run smooth and efficiently
  • Filling in for Receptionists when needed
  • Perform general physical activities that may require standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, etc

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Veterinary Clinic (required)
  • Availability to work days, evenings and weekends (required)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system
  • Experience with Cornerstone is a plus!
  • Team player
  • Ability to lift or carry dogs up to 50lbs. Ability to walk and handle dogs weighing 50lbs.

Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated, friendly and professional full-time certified veterinary technician (CVT) to join our 5 Doctor, AAHA accredited practice in Cottage Grove!

The purpose of this position is to assist our veterinarians to fullest extent with patient care and treatment, educate clients and assist with surgical procedures. This position requires working knowledge of hospital organization and services, basic rules or protocols governing animal patient treatment, data transcribing, word processing and a practical knowledge of standard procedures, veterinary records and terminology used in the hospital. This is an overview of the position and does not encompass the entire CVT position.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist our doctors and other staff with a variety of duties (appointments, lab-work, surgery/dentistry, reception, etc)
  • Obtain and record patient histories
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian
  • Prepare patients and tools for surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients waking up from anesthesia; assist with treatment if patient has reaction to anesthesia
  • Clean surgery suite and surgical instruments after each procedure following hospital sterilization protocols
  • Take radiographs
  • Maintain knowledge of routine preventative care recommendations in order to answer client questions/concerns.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DEA
  • Restrain animals confidently
  • Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures/tests
  • Dispense and administer medications/vaccines and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
  • Make routine phone calls
  • Perform general physical activities that may require standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, etc
  • Log controlled drugs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Passed VTNE or will be taking in the near future
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Veterinary Clinic (required)

  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system
  • Experience with Cornerstone is a plus!
  • Team player
